Holidays are awesome but sometimes they seem like an unnecessary expense. If you’ve been longing for another holiday but you’ve been struggling to save for it you will love these ideas. This post is all about how you can save money for your next holiday.
Save money on essentials
We all need to eat right, but if you regularly eat out or buy too much food in the supermarket this could be one area that you change to save some money. The easiest way to save money on food is to start meal planning. Just grab some paper and a pen (or even the notes section on your phone) and start planning out what meals you’ll eat over the next few days. You can go through your kitchen cupboards and fridge freezer at the same time to see what you already have in. Then you can easily make a food list to take with you to the supermarket and you won’t over spend. This not only saves money but also reduces the amount of food you will waste. So it’s win win really.
The same can be copied for bath and beauty products, only buy what you actually need. Go through your bathroom cabinet and take a look at what you already have. You might have even been gifted some toiletries at Christmas that you could use instead of buying more.
Sell unwanted stuff
Go through your cupboards and see if you have anything you no longer want. This unwanted stuff could easily be turned into cash within a few days. There are so many great apps out there to help you turn your clutter into cash. Here are a few of my favourite selling apps:
- eBay – Great for just about anything that is easy to post.
- Gumtree – Great for heavier items for people to pick up.
- Mercari – A great app to sell beauty products (even the opened ones) and lots of other stuff.
- Music Magpie – Great for and instant price on DVD’s, games, electronics, books, old phones etc.
- Ziffit – Great for DVD’s, books etc.
Use a savings app
I love the instant savings I can make each week with my savings app such as Plum. It’s so simple to use and save money for you automatically. The clever algorithms save money from your account without you really even realising it. If you’re not great at saving money then this may be the app that you’ve been looking for.
